Treasury of Scripture Knowledge
When he giveth quietness, who then can make trouble? and when he hideth his face, who then can behold him? whether it be done against a nation, or against a man only:
When he giveth
When he giveth
And Job again took up his parable, and said,
2 Samuel 7:1
And it came to pass, when the king dwelt in his house, and LORD had given him rest from all his enemies round about,
And it shall come to pass in the day that LORD shall give thee rest from thy sorrow, and from thy trouble, and from the hard service in which thou were made to serve,
Thou will keep [him] in perfect peace, [whose] mind [is] stayed [on thee], because he trusts in thee.
And the work of righteousness shall be peace, and the effect of righteousness, quietness and confidence forever.
Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you, not as the world gives, do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, nor let it be cowardly.
What then will we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us?
And the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
When he hideth
Behold, I go forward, but he is not [there], and backward, but I cannot perceive him,
How long, O LORD? Will thou forget me forever? How long will thou hide thy face from me?
Hide not thy face from me. Put not thy servant away in anger. Thou have been my help. Cast me not off, nor forsake me, O God of my salvation.
Thou, LORD, of thy favor had made my mountain to stand strong. Thou hid thy face; I was troubled.
Make haste to answer me, O LORD, my spirit fails. Hide not thy face from me, lest I become like those who go down into the pit.
Who then can behold
Behold, he breaks down, and it cannot be built again. He shuts up a man, and there can be no opening.
But he is in one [mind], and who can turn him? And what his soul desires, even that he does.
2 Kings 18:9
And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Hezekiah, which was the seventh year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against Samaria, and besieged it.
2 Chronicles 36:14
Moreover all the chiefs of the priests, and the people, trespassed very greatly after all the abominations of the nations. And they polluted the house of LORD which he had hallowed in Jerusalem.
And it shall come to pass, that the nation and the kingdom which will not serve the same Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and that will not put their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, that nation I will punish, says LORD,
Behold, I have made thee small among the nations. Thou are greatly despised.
