But [when he] saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said to them, "Offspring of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath?

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all impiety and unrighteousness of people, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,

But because of your stubbornness and unrepentant heart, you are storing up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and of the revelation of the righteous judgment of God,

Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these [things] the wrath of God is coming on the sons of disobedience.

Remove from me your affliction. By the opposition of your hand I perish.

that struck [the] peoples in wrath, a blow without ceasing, that ruled [the] nations in anger {with unrestrained persecution}.

"Son of man, look! I [am] taking from you what is pleasing to your eyes with a plague, but you shall not mourn, and you shall not weep, and your tears shall not run down.

Then

{so that} he is gracious [to] him, and he says, 'Deliver him from descending into [the] pit; I have found a ransom.'

Surely a man cannot redeem a brother. He cannot give to God his ransom

who gave himself a ransom for all, the testimony at the proper time,

how will we escape [if we] neglect so great a salvation which had [its] beginning [when it] was spoken through the Lord [and] was confirmed to us by those who heard,
