and called the light "day," and the darkness "night." And so of the evening and morning was made the first day.
The day is thine. The night is thine. Thou hast prepared the lights and the sun.
Which hath made great lights! For his mercy endureth forever.
Praise him sun and moon; praise him all ye stars and light.

"Where wast thou, when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell plainly if thou hast understanding.
For we are but of yesterday, and consider not that our days upon earth are but a very shadow.
Art thou the first man that ever was born? Or, wast thou made before the hills?

The dayspring

Through the tender mercy of our God, whereby the day spring from on high hath visited us:
We have also a right sure word of prophecy, whereunto if ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, ye do well; until the day dawn and the day star arise in your hearts.
