A witness

This was John's testimony when the Jewish leaders sent priests and descendants of Levi to him from Jerusalem to ask him, "Who are you?"

so they went to John and told him, "Rabbi, the man who was with you on the other side of the Jordan, the one about whom you testified look, he's baptizing, and everyone is going to him!"

You have sent messengers to John, and he has testified to the truth.

Then Paul said, "John baptized when they repented, telling the people to believe in the one who was to come after him, that is, in Jesus."

This was the true light that enlightens every person by his coming into the world.

so they went to John and told him, "Rabbi, the man who was with you on the other side of the Jordan, the one about whom you testified look, he's baptizing, and everyone is going to him!"

and help everyone see how this secret that has been at work was hidden for ages by God, who created all things.

who wants all people to be saved and to come to know the truth fully.

For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all people.

The Lord is not slow about his promise, as some people understand slowness, but is being patient with you. He does not want anyone to perish, but wants everyone to repent.
