There laid they Jesus because of the Jews' Sabbath even, for the sepulchre was nigh at hand.

It was the Sabbath even which falleth in the Easter feast, and about the sixth hour. And he said unto the Jews, "Behold your King."

The Jews then, because it was the Sabbath even that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the Sabbath day - For that Sabbath day was a high day - besought Pilate that their legs might be broken and that they might be taken down.

And in the place where Jesus was crucified, was a garden: and in the garden a new sepulchre, wherein was never man laid.

My strength is dried up like a potsherd, and my tongue cleaveth to my gums, and thou shalt bring me into the dust of death.

He put his sepulchre with the wicked, and with the rich in his death: because he did none iniquity, neither was guile found in his mouth.

For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

This title read many of the Jews. For the place where Jesus was crucified, was nigh to the city. And it was written in Hebrew, Greek and Latin.

And when they had fulfilled all that were written of him, they took him down from the tree and put him in a sepulchre:

and that he was buried, and that he arose again the third day according to the scriptures,

in that ye are buried with him through baptism, in whom ye are also risen again through faith, that is wrought by the operation of God which raised him from death.
