So Moses stretched out his staff over the land of Egypt, and the Lord sent an east wind over the land all that day and through the night. By morning the east wind had brought in the locusts.

Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea. The Lord drove the sea back with a powerful east wind all that night and turned the sea into dry land. So the waters were divided,

But You blew with Your breath,
and the sea covered them.
They sank like lead
in the mighty waters.

A wind sent by the Lord

came up and blew quail in from the sea; it dropped them at the camp all around, three feet off the ground, about a day’s journey in every direction.

They saw the Lord’s works,
His wonderful works in the deep.

He causes the clouds to rise from the ends of the earth.
He makes lightning for the rain
and brings the wind from His storehouses.

He is here:
the One who forms the mountains,
creates the wind,
and reveals His thoughts to man,
the One who makes the dawn out of darkness
and strides on the heights of the earth.
Yahweh, the God of Hosts, is His name.

Suddenly, a violent storm arose on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves. But He was sleeping.

When a gentle south wind sprang up, they thought they had achieved their purpose. They weighed anchor and sailed along the shore of Crete.
