In the seventh

The tenth day of this seventh month is a special day for the payment for sins. There will be a holy assembly. Humble yourselves, and bring Jehovah a sacrifice by fire.

Once a year Aaron must make atonement with Jehovah by putting blood on its horns. Once a year for generations to come blood from the offering must be placed on the altar to make atonement with Jehovah. It is most holy to Jehovah.

Call a holy assembly on the tenth day of the seventh month. Humble yourselves do no work.

They all assembled during the festival. It was the seventh month, the month of Ethanim.

When the seventh month came, and the children of Israel were in the towns, the people came together like one man to Jerusalem.

Shall afflict

But when they were sick, I wore sackcloth. I humbled myself with fasting. My prayer returned unanswered.

When I wept and I fasted, that was to my reproach.

Why have we fasted and you do not see? Why have we humbled ourselves and you do not notice? Behold, on the day of your fast you find desire, and mistreat all your workers.'

I ate no pleasant bread; neither flesh nor wine entered my mouth. I did not anoint myself at all until three whole weeks were completed.

For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.

For godly sorrow works repentance leading to salvation. This is a repentance that brings no regret: but the sorrow of the world works death.

You may work for six days. But the seventh day is a day of worship (Sabbath), a day when you do not work, and a holy assembly. Do not do any work. It is Jehovah's day of worship wherever you live.

You shall have a holy assembly on the first day. There should be another holy assembly on the seventh day. No work at all will be done on them, except what must be eaten by every person that alone may be prepared by you.

The seventh day is a Sabbath dedicated to Jehovah your God. Do not do any work, you or your son or your daughter, your male or your female servant or your cattle or your sojourner who stays with you.

If because of the Sabbath, you turn your foot from doing your pleasure on my holy day, and you call the Sabbath a delight and the holy of Jehovah honorable, and honor it, desisting from your ways, from seeking your own pleasure and speaking your own word,

He who enters into his rest also rests from his own works, just as God did from his.
