Abram said, "Lord GOD, what will you give me, seeing I go childless, and he who will inherit my estate is Eliezer of Damascus?"

Now Sarai, Abram's wife, bore him no children. She had a handmaid, an Egyptian, whose name was Hagar.

Isaac entreated the LORD for his wife, because she was barren. The LORD was entreated by him, and Rebekah his wife conceived.

When Rachel saw that she bore Jacob no children, Rachel envied her sister. She said to Jacob, "Give me children, or else I will die."

There was a certain man of Zorah, of the family of the Danites, whose name was Manoah; and his wife was barren, and did not bear.

And he had two wives; the name of the one was Hannah, and the name of other Peninnah. And Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children.

Well

Then Abraham fell on his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, "Will a child be born to him who is one hundred years old? Will Sarah, who is ninety years old, give birth?"

Now Abraham and Sarah were old, well advanced in age. It had ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women.

Now king David was old and advanced in years; and they covered him with clothes, but he couldn't keep warm.

He said, "What then is to be done for her?" Gehazi answered, "Most certainly she has no son, and her husband is old."

Without being weakened in faith, he considered his own body as dead (he being about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah's womb.

By faith he received power to procreate when he was past age, and Sarah herself was barren. He regarded him faithful who had promised.
