To fulfill the mercy promised to our fathers; And to remember his holy covenant;

"'And I will remember my covenant with Jacob and my covenant with Isaac, and my covenant with Abraham, and will think on the land.

He thought upon his covenant, and pitied them, according unto the multitude of his mercies;

"'Nevertheless, I will remember the covenant that I made with thee in thy youth, insomuch that it shall be an everlasting covenant:

Thou shalt keep thy trust with Jacob, and thy mercy for Abraham, like as thou hast sworn unto our fathers long ago.

He remembereth mercy: and helpeth his servant Israel.

And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse them that curse thee. And in thee shall be blessed all the generations of the earth."

"I am. Behold, my covenant is with thee, that thou shalt be a father of many nations.

And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed, because thou hast obeyed my voice."

and will multiply thy seed as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries. And through thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed,

And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth: And thou shalt spread abroad: west, east, north and south. And through thee and thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed.

He hath remembered his mercy and truth toward the house of Israel: so that all the ends of the world see the salvation of our God.

He is always mindful of his covenant and promise, that he made to a thousand generations,

He giveth meat unto them that fear him; he is ever mindful of his covenant.

Now when I went by thee, and looked upon thee: behold, thy time was come; yea, even the time to vow thee. Then spread I my clothes over thee, to cover thy dishonesty: Yea, I made an oath unto thee, and married myself with thee, sayeth the LORD God; and so thou becamest mine own.

Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant, which God hath made unto our fathers, saying to Abraham, 'Even in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed.'

As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sake: but as touching the election, they are loved for the fathers' sake.

Brethren, I will speak after the manner of men. Though it be but a man's testament, yet no man despiseth it, or addeth anything thereto when it is once allowed.

For when God made promise to Abraham, because he had no greater thing to swear by, he sware by himself,
