And thou, Child, shalt be called Prophet of the Most High, For thou shalt go before the Lord to make ready his way,

The child shall be great and shall be called 'Son of the Most High,' and the Lord God will give him the throne of his ancestor David,

This is he who was spoken of in the Prophet Isaiah, where he says--'The voice of one crying aloud in the Wilderness: "Make ready the way of the Lord, Make his paths straight."'

What, then, did you go for? To see a Prophet? Yes, I tell you, and far more than a Prophet.

Yet, though Herod wanted to put him to death, he was afraid of the people, because they looked on John as a Prophet.

It is said in the Prophet Isaiah--'Behold! I send my Messenger before thy face; He shall prepare thy way.'

But if we say 'human,' we are afraid of the people, for every one regards John as a Prophet."

Yet can we say 'human'?"--They were afraid of the people, for everyone regarded John as undoubtedly a Prophet.

And shall reconcile many of the Israelites to the Lord their God.

But love your enemies, and show them kindness, and lend to them, never despairing. Then your reward shall be great, and you shall be Sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the thankless and the bad.

This is the very man of whom Scripture says--'Behold, I am sending my Messenger before thy face, And he shall prepare thy way before thee.'

"I," he answered, "am--'The voice of one crying aloud in the Wilderness--"straighten the way of the Lord"', as the Prophet Isaiah said."

He is coming after me, yet I am not worthy even to unfasten his sandal."

You are yourselves witnesses that I said 'I am not the Christ,' but 'I have been sent before him as a Messenger.'

John having first proclaimed, before the appearance of Jesus, a baptism upon repentance for all the people of Israel.

This girl followed Paul and the rest of us, calling: "These men are servants of the most high God, and they are bringing you news of a way to Salvation."
