He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?

To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, there will be no dawn for them.

Now we know that whatever the law says speaks to those who are subject to the law,

so that every mouth may be shut and the whole world may become subject to God’s judgment.

If those who are of the law are heirs, faith is made empty and the promise is canceled.

For Moses writes about the righteousness that is from the law: The one who does these things will live by them.

But the law is not based on faith; instead, the one who does these things will live by them.
