So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable slaves: we have done that which was our duty to do.
And he spoke this parable unto some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous and despised others:
And Samuel came to Saul, and Saul said unto him, Blessed be thou of the LORD; I have performed the commandment of the LORD.
That they seek me daily and want to know my ways, as people that do righteousness and have not forsaken the rights of their God: they ask me of the rights of righteousness and desire to approach God.
who say, Stand by thyself, do not come near to me; for I am holier than thou. These are a smoke in my nose, a fire that burns all the day.
and to speak unto the priests which were in the house of the LORD of the hosts and to the prophets, saying, Should we weep in the fifth month? Should we do abstinence as we have done these so many years?
saying, These last have worked but one hour, and thou hast made them equal unto us who have borne the burden and heat of the day.
For by the deeds of the law, no flesh shall be justified in his sight; for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
So that without the law I lived for some time; but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.
For they, being ignorant of God's righteousness and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.
Though I might also have reason to confide in the flesh. If any other man thinks that he has whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more:
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and there is no truth in us.
Because thou sayest, I am rich and increased with goods and have need of nothing and knowest not that thou art wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked,

Yet

I say unto you that likewise there shall be more joy in heaven over one sinner that repents than over ninety-nine just persons, who need no repentance.
for I feared thee because thou art an austere man: thou takest up that which thou didst not lay down and dost reap that which thou didst not sow.
And ye have profaned it when ye say, We die of hunger at the service of the LORD and when ye speak that his food is contemptible.
Ye have said, It is vain to serve God, and what profit is it that we have kept his law and that we walk mournfully before the LORD of the hosts?
He that has an ear let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the congregations ; To him that overcomes I will give to eat of the hidden manna and will give him a small white stone and in the stone a new name written, which no one knows except the one that receives it.
