But they continued emphatically insisting, "He is exciting the people by teaching all over Judea. He started in Galilee and now He is here."

and brought them to the chiefs of the police court. They said, "These men are Jews; they continue to make great disturbance in our town

They stopped at Jason's house and tried to bring them out to the people. So, as they could not find them, they dragged Jason and some of the brothers before the town magistrates, shouting, "These fellows, who have turned the world topsy-turvy, have come here too,

So they closely watched and sent spies who pretended to be upright men, to catch Him in His conversation, so as to turn Him over to the power and authority of the governor.

So He said, "Pay Caesar what belongs to Caesar, and pay God what belongs to God." And they were utterly dumbfounded at Him.

and they cannot prove the charges they have just made against me.

and keep your conscience clear, so that those who bitterly abuse your excellent conduct as Christians may be ashamed of slandering you.
