And Pilate gave sentence that it should be as they required.

Then released he unto them Barabbas; but Jesus he scourged and delivered to be crucified.

And Pilate, wishing to content the multitude, released unto them Barabbas, and delivered Jesus, when he had scourged him, to be crucified.

Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him.

Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil; neither shalt thou speak in a cause to turn aside after a multitude to wrest justice :

He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the righteous, Both of them alike are an abomination to Jehovah.

Deliver them that are carried away unto death, And those that are ready to be slain see that thou hold back.

Then therefore he delivered him unto them to be crucified.

And though they found no cause of death in him , yet asked they of Pilate that he should be slain.
