Then all the people of the Gerasene region asked Him to leave them, because they were gripped by great fear. So getting into the boat, He returned.

So they came and apologized to them, and escorting them out, they urged them to leave town.

Also, demons were coming out of many, shouting and saying, “You are the Son of God!” But He rebuked them and would not allow them to speak, because they knew He was the Messiah.

When he saw Jesus, he cried out, fell down before Him, and said in a loud voice, “What do You have to do with me,

Jesus, You Son of the Most High God? I beg You, don’t torment me!”

Suddenly they shouted, “What do You have to do with us,

Son of God? Have You come here to torment us before the time?”

“What do You have to do with us, Jesus—Nazarene? Have You come to destroy us? I know who You are—the Holy One of God!”

And he cried out with a loud voice, “What do You have to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg You before God, don’t torment me!”

You believe that God is one; you do well. The demons also believe—and they shudder.
