Then said Jesus unto them, I will ask you one thing; Is it lawful on the sabbath days to do good, or to do evil? to save life, or to destroy it?

"Is it allowable," said Jesus, addressing the Students of the Law and the Pharisees, "to work a cure on the Sabbath, or is it not?"

And how much more precious a man is than a sheep! Therefore it is allowable to do good on the Sabbath."

And to the people he said: "Is it allowable to do good on the Sabbath--or harm? to save a life, or destroy it?"

Was not it Moses who gave you the Law? Yet not one of you obeys it! Why are you seeking to put me to death?"

And they made their way to another village.

You blind guides, to strain out a gnat and to swallow a camel!

Then Jesus added: "The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath;
