1 For behold, the day coming, burning as a furnace; and all the proud and all doing injustice were straw: and the day coming burnt them, said Jehovah of armies, that it shall not leave to them root and branch.
1 “(a)For behold, the day is coming, (A)burning like a furnace; and all the arrogant and every evildoer will be (B)chaff; and the day that is coming will (C)set them ablaze,” says the Lord of hosts, “so that it will leave them neither root nor branch.”
1 For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.
1 (a)“For indeed, the day is coming, burning like a furnace, when all the arrogant and everyone who commits wickedness will become stubble. The coming day will consume them,” says the Lord of Hosts, “not leaving them root or branches.
1 "The coming day is certainly going to burn like a furnace. All the arrogant and all who practice evil will be stubble the coming day will set them on fire," says the LORD of the Heavenly Armies, "so that it will leave them neither root nor branch.
2 And to you fearing my name the sun of justice arose, and healing in his wings; and ye went forth and spread as calves of the stall.
2 “But for you who (b)fear My name, the (D)sun of righteousness will rise with (E)healing in its wings; and you will go forth and (F)skip about like calves from the stall.
2 But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.
2 But for you who fear My name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings,(A) and you will go out and playfully jump like calves from the stall.(b)
2 But the Sun of Righteousness will arise with healing in its light for those who fear my name. You will go out and leap like calves released from their stalls
3 And ye tread down the unjust; for they were ashes under the soles of your feet in the day which I doing, said Jehovah of armies.
3 You will (G)tread down the wicked, for they will be (H)ashes under the soles of your feet (I)on the day (c)which I am preparing,” says the Lord of hosts.
3 And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the LORD of hosts.
3 You will trample the wicked, for they will be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day I am preparing,” says the Lord of Hosts.
3 and trample down the wicked. Indeed, they will become ashes under the soles of your feet on the day I do this," says the LORD of the Heavenly Armies.
4 Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded him in Horeb for all Israel, the laws and the judgments.
4 “(d)(J)Remember the law of Moses My servant, even the statutes and ordinances which I commanded him in Horeb for all Israel.
4 Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments.
4 “Remember the instruction of Moses My servant, the statutes and ordinances I commanded him at Horeb(B) for all Israel.
4 "Remember the Law of Moses my servant that I gave him at Horeb for all Israel both the decrees and laws.
5 Behold, I send to you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the day of Jehovah, great and terrible:
5 “Behold, I am going to send you (K)Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and terrible day of the Lord.
5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD:
5 Look, I am going to send you Elijah the prophet(C) before the great and awesome Day of the Lord comes.(D)
5 "Pay attention! I'm sending Elijah the prophet to you before the great and dreadful Day of the LORD comes,
6 And he turned back the heart of the fathers to the sons, and the heart of the sons to the fathers, lest I shall come and strike the earth with utter destruction.
6 He will (e)(L)restore the hearts of the fathers to their children and the hearts of the children to their fathers, so that I will not come and (M)smite the land with a (f)curse.”
6 And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse. {THE END OF THE PROPHETS.}
6 (c)And he will turn the hearts of fathers to their children and the hearts of children to their fathers.(E) Otherwise, I will come and strike the land(d) with a curse.”
6 and he will turn the hearts of fathers to children, and the hearts of children to their fathers. Otherwise, I'll come, strike the land, and utterly destroy it."
