In the morning as they were passing along, they saw that the fig tree was withered, to its very roots.

But the axe is already lying at the roots of the trees. Any tree that fails to produce good fruit is going to be cut down and thrown into the fire.

Any tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and burned.

"You must either make the tree sound and its fruit sound, or make the tree bad and its fruit bad; a tree is judged by its fruit.

and seeing a fig tree by the roadside, he went up to it, but found nothing on it but leaves. And he said to it, "No more fruit shall ever grow on you!" And the fig tree withered up at once.

Anyone who does not remain united to me is thrown away like a branch and withers up, and they gather them and throw them into the fire and burn them.

For if after men have escaped the corrupting influences of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they again become entangled in them and are overcome by them, their final condition is worse than their former one.

Let the evil-doer do worse and worse, let the base grow baser and baser, let the upright man be more and more upright, and the man who is holy be more and more holy."
