They began to salute him: "Hail, king of the Jews!"

When he told his father and his brothers, his father rebuked him, saying, "What is this dream that you had? Will I, your mother, and your brothers really come and bow down to you?"

Come now, let's kill him, throw him into one of the cisterns, and then say that a wild animal ate him. Then we'll see how his dreams turn out!"

"He saved others, but he cannot save himself! He is the king of Israel! If he comes down now from the cross, we will believe in him!

So Pilate asked him, "Are you the king of the Jews?" He replied, "You say so."

Those who passed by defamed him, shaking their heads and saying, "Aha! You who can destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days,

The soldiers also mocked him, coming up and offering him sour wine,

(Now it was the day of preparation for the Passover, about noon.) Pilate said to the Jewish leaders, "Look, here is your king!"
