"But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.

Then he said to his disciples, "Things that cause people to sin are bound to come, but woe to him through whom they do come!

Therefore let us not pass judgment on one another anymore, but rather decide never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in our brother's way.

but as it is written: "They shall see who have not been told of him, and those who have not heard shall understand."

I urge you, brethren, to take note of those who cause divisions and difficulties, contrary to the doctrine which you have learned; avoid them.

For if a man sees you, who have knowledge, at table in an idol's temple, will not his conscience, if he is weak, be encouraged to eat food sacrificed to idols?

Give no offense either to Jews or to Greeks or to the church of God,

We put no stumbling block in anyone's path, so that our ministry will not be discredited.

so that you may approve what is excellent, and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ;

So I would have younger widows marry, bear children, manage their homes, and give the enemy no occasion for reproach.

And many will follow their licentiousness, and because of them the way of truth will be reviled.

Then he will answer them, 'Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.'

And he fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, "Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?"

And as I punished them often in all the synagogues, I tried to force them to blaspheme; and being furiously enraged against them, I persecuted them even to foreign cities.

For after all it is only just for God to repay with affliction those who afflict you,

When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God and the testimony they had maintained;

for they shed the blood of saints and prophets, and you have given them blood to drink. They deserve it."
