And some fell in rich soil, and yielded a crop, some a hundred, some sixty, some thirty-fold.

And the people sown in rich soil are the people who listen to the message and welcome it and yield thirty, sixty, even a hundredfold."

But the portion in rich soil illustrates those who listen to the message, keep it in good and honest hearts, and in patience yield fruit.

Produce, then, fruit that is consistent with the repentance you profess,

"You must either make the tree healthy and its fruits healthy or make the tree sickly and its fruits sickly, for a tree is judged by its fruit.

"For there never is a healthy tree that bears poor fruit, nor a sickly tree that bears good fruit.

Now I am going to tell you, brothers, of God's spiritual blessing which was given in the churches of Macedonia,

He who always supplies the sower with seed and the eater with bread will supply you with seed and multiply it and enlarge the harvest which your deeds of charity yield.

Now, brothers, we ask and beg you, in the face of our union with the Lord Jesus, as you once received from us how you ought to live so as to please God -- as indeed you are living -- to continue to live this life better and better.

Now for this very reason you must do your level best to supplement your faith with moral character, moral character with knowledge,

but instead, you must continue to grow in the spiritual strength and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To Him be glory now and forever!
