He told the people to sit down on the ground.

He commanded the crowd to sit down on the grass. Then he prayed. He gave the five loaves and two fishes to the disciples to distribute to the crowd.

He commanded them to sit down by groups upon the green grass.

There were about five thousand men. He said to his disciples, make them sit down in groups of about fifty each.

Jesus said: Make the people sit down. There were about five thousand men who sat down on the grass.
