But He answered them, “An evil and adulterous generation demands a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.

But sighing deeply in His spirit, He said, “Why does this generation demand a sign? I assure you: No sign will be given to this generation!”

And with many other words he testified and strongly urged them, saying, “Be saved from this corrupt generation!”

But

Now the Lord had appointed a huge fish to swallow Jonah, and Jonah was in the fish three days and three nights.

As the crowds were increasing, He began saying: “This generation is an evil generation. It demands a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah.

And he

Leave them alone! They are blind guides. And if the blind guide the blind, both will fall into a pit.”

And the Lord said, “My Spirit will not remain with mankind forever, because they are corrupt.

Their days will be 120 years.”

Ephraim is attached to idols;
leave him alone!

Even if they raise children,
I will bereave them of each one.
Yes, woe to them when I depart from them!

Then they began to beg Him to leave their region.

But when they resisted and blasphemed, he shook his robe

and told them, “Your blood is on your own heads! I am innocent. From now on I will go to the Gentiles.”
