Matthew 17:10

So the disciples asked him, "Why, then, do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?"

If you are willing to accept it, he is Elijah who is to come.

"Pay attention! I'm sending Elijah the prophet to you before the great and dreadful Day of the LORD comes,

Suddenly, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Jesus.

When some of the people standing there heard this, they said, "He's calling for Elijah."

So they asked him, "Don't the scribes say that Elijah must come first?"

So they asked him, "Well then, are you Elijah?" John said, "I am not." "Are you the Prophet?" He answered, "No."

They asked him, "Why, then, are you baptizing if you are not the Messiah, or Elijah, or the Prophet?"
