Matthew 17:10

The disciples asked Him, "Why then do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?"

and if you are willing to accept it, John himself is the Elijah who was to come.

Then Moses and Elijah appeared to them and kept talking with Him.

Some of the bystanders, when they heard it, said, "He is calling for Elijah."

Then they asked Him, "Why do the scribes say that Elijah has to come first?"

So they asked him again, "What are you then? Elijah?" And he answered, "Of course, I am not." "Are you the prophet?" He answered, "No."

so they asked him, "Why are you baptizing then, if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the prophet?"
