But you must not let people call you 'Rabbi,' for you have only one teacher, and you are all brothers.

And he sat down and called the Twelve in, and said to them, "If anyone wishes to be first, he must be the last of all and the servant of all."

but it is not to be so among you. Whoever wants to be great among you must be your servant,

He noticed that the guests picked out the best places, and he gave them this illustration:

I tell you, it was he who went back to his house with God's approval, and not the other. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the man who humbles himself will be exalted."

Jesus answered, "My kingdom is not a kingdom of this world. If my kingdom were a kingdom of this world, my men would have fought to keep me from being handed over to the Jews. But as it is, my kingdom has no such origin."

Not that we are the masters of you and your faith; we are working with you to make you happy, for in your faith you stand firm enough.

for the weapons I use are not earthly ones, but divinely strong for destroying fortresses.

Then they in their turn will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or in need of clothes, or sick, or in prison, and did not wait upon you?'

There were several women there watching from a distance who had followed Jesus from Galilee to wait upon him,

When they reached Salamis, they proclaimed God's message in the Jewish synagogues. They had John with them as their assistant.

The Lord grant that he may be shown mercy by the Lord on that Day! And you know well enough how he helped me at Ephesus.

I would have liked to keep him with me, to wait on me in your place while I am in prison for the good news,

Are not the angels all spirits in service, whom he sends on his errands for the good of those who are destined to possess salvation?

If one preaches, let him do it like one who utters the words of God; if one does some service, let him do it as with strength which God supplies, so that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
