They questioned him: Why do your disciples go against the teaching of the fathers? They eat food with unwashed hands.

Listen to the advice I give you. May God be with you! You must be the people's representative to God and bring their disagreements to him.

I have taught you laws and rules as Jehovah my God commanded me. You must obey them when you enter the land and take possession of it.

They spoke to Moses: 'Moses, go and listen to everything that Jehovah our God says. Then tell us whatever Jehovah our God tells you. We will listen and obey.'

Approach the Levitical priest or the judge who is in office in those days. Inquire of them and they will declare to you the verdict in the case.

The hand of God was also on Judah to give them one heart to do what the king and the princes commanded by the word of Jehovah.

Peter and the other apostles answered: We must obey God rather than men.

Let every person be subject to superior authorities. For there is no authority except by God. God allows the authorities to serve in their positions.

They profess that they know God; but deny him by their works! They are detestable, disobedient, and not approved for any good work.
