How, then, would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen this way?”

I will put hostility between you and the woman,
and between your seed and her seed.
He will strike your head,
and you will strike his heel.

For the choir director: according to “The Lilies.” Davidic.Save me, God,
for the water has risen to my neck.

The Lord God has opened My ear,
and I was not rebellious;
I did not turn back.

After those 62 weeks
the Messiah will be cut off
and will have nothing.
The people of the coming prince
will destroy the city and the sanctuary.
The end will come with a flood,
and until the end there will be war;
desolations are decreed.

“Then I will pour out a spirit

of grace and prayer on the house of David and the residents of Jerusalem, and they will look at Me whom they pierced. They will mourn for Him as one mourns for an only child and weep bitterly for Him as one weeps for a firstborn.

Sword, awake against My shepherd,
against the man who is My associate—
this is the declaration of the Lord of Hosts.
Strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered;
I will also turn My hand against the little ones.

“Elijah does come first and restores everything,”

He replied. “How then is it written about the Son of Man that He must suffer many things and be treated with contempt?

He said to them, “How unwise and slow you are to believe in your hearts all that the prophets have spoken!

So they said to one another, “Let’s not tear it, but cast lots for it, to see who gets it.” They did this to fulfill the Scripture that says: They divided My clothes among themselves, and they cast lots for My clothing.

And this is what the soldiers did.

For the residents of Jerusalem and their rulers, since they did not recognize Him or the voices of the prophets that are read every Sabbath, have fulfilled their words by condemning Him.

As usual, Paul went to the synagogue, and on three Sabbath days reasoned with them from the Scriptures,

To this very day, I have obtained help that comes from God, and I stand and testify to both small and great, saying nothing else than what the prophets and Moses said would take place—

After arranging a day with him, many came to him at his lodging. From dawn to dusk he expounded and witnessed about the kingdom of God. He tried to persuade them concerning Jesus from both the Law of Moses and the Prophets.

For I passed on to you as most important what I also received:

that Christ died for our sins
according to the Scriptures,

They inquired into what time or what circumstances the Spirit of Christ within them was indicating when He testified in advance to the messianic sufferings

and the glories that would follow.

For He knew who would betray Him. This is why He said, “You are not all clean.”
