And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them.
The names of the twelve apostles are these: first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother;
After six days Jesus took with him Peter, James, and John his brother, and led them up a high mountain by themselves.
Then the mother of Zebedee's sons came to him with her sons and, kneeling down, asked something of him.
He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee along with him, and he began to be sorrowful and troubled.
When he had gone a little farther from there, he saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the boat mending their nets.
James the son of Zebedee and John the brother of James, to whom he gave the name Boanerges, that is, "Sons of Thunder";
And he allowed no one to follow him except Peter, James, and John the brother of James.
and so also were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, "Do not be afraid. From now on you will catch men."
Simon Peter, Thomas called the Twin, Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two others of his disciples were together.
He had James the brother of John put to death with the sword.
