And it came to pass, when he was come nigh to Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount called the mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples,
Now Jesus was teaching in the Temple every day, and He went out and lodged on the hill called Olivet every night [Note: Possibly this meant He lodged in a house in Bethany, which was situated on the side of this hill].
And he led them out until they were over against Bethany: and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them.
These things were done in Bethany beyond the Jordan, where John was baptizing.
The next day, having decided to leave Bethany and go into Galilee, Jesus found Philip, and invited him to follow Him.
Now a certain man was sick, named Lazarus, who was of Bethany, the town of Mary, and of Martha her sister.
now Bethany being distant from Jerusalem but about fifteen furlongs,

Six days before the passover Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, who had been dead, and raised to life again.

Surely this perfume could've been sold for a high price and the money given to the destitute." But knowing this, Jesus asked them, "Why are you bothering the woman? But Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples, who was going to betray him, asked, "Why wasn't this perfume sold for 300 denarii and the money given to the destitute?" He said this, not because he cared about the destitute, but because he was a thief. He was in charge of the moneybag and would steal what was put into it. Then Jesus said, "Leave her alone so she can observe the day of my burial, because you will always have the destitute with you, but you won't always have me." When the large crowd of Jews realized that he was there, they came not only because of Jesus but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead.

So they went and found the colt outside in the street tied up next to a doorway. While they were untying it, some men standing there asked them, "What are you doing untying that colt?" The disciples told them what Jesus had said, and the men let them go. They brought the colt to Jesus, threw their coats on it, and he sat on it. Many people spread their coats on the road, while others spread leafy branches that they had cut in the fields. Those who went ahead and those who followed him were shouting, "Hosanna! How blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord! How blessed is the coming kingdom of our ancestor David! Hosanna in the highest heaven!" Then Jesus went into Jerusalem and into the Temple and looked around at everything. Since it was already late, he went out with the Twelve to Bethany.
