I contended

So I confronted the officials and said, "Why is the house of God forsaken?" And I gathered them together and set them in their stations.

Those who forsake the law praise the wicked, but those who keep the law strive against them.

Cursed

I also shook out the fold of my garment and said, "So may God shake out every man from his house and from his labor who does not keep this promise. So may he be shaken out and emptied."And all the assembly said "Amen" and praised the LORD. And the people did as they had promised.

And the Levites shall declare to all the men of Israel in a loud voice:

in whose eyes a vile person is despised, but who honors those who fear the LORD; who swears to his own hurt and does not change;

One of the lawyers answered him, "Teacher, in saying these things you insult us also."

then if the guilty man deserves to be beaten, the judge shall cause him to lie down and be beaten in his presence with a number of stripes in proportion to his offense.

Whoever will not obey the law of your God and the law of the king, let judgment be strictly executed on him, whether for death or for banishment or for confiscation of his goods or for imprisonment."

Then Ezra arose and made the leading priests and Levites and all Israel take oath that they would do as had been said. So they took the oath.
