(Now the man Moses was very humble, more so than any man on the face of the earth.)

Take my yoke on you and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

Moses heard the people weeping throughout their families, everyone at the door of his tent; and when the anger of the Lord was kindled greatly, Moses was also displeased.

Then Moses and Aaron gathered the community together in front of the rock, and he said to them, "Listen, you rebels, must we bring water out of this rock for you?"

They made him angry by the waters of Meribah, and Moses suffered because of them,

The Lord lifts up the oppressed, but knocks the wicked to the ground.

For the Lord takes delight in his people; he exalts the oppressed by delivering them.

"Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.

"Tell the people of Zion, 'Look, your king is coming to you, unassuming and seated on a donkey, and on a colt, the foal of a donkey.'"

Now I, Paul, appeal to you personally by the meekness and gentleness of Christ (I who am meek when present among you, but am full of courage toward you when away!) --

For I consider myself not at all inferior to those "super-apostles."

I have become a fool. You yourselves forced me to do it, for I should have been commended by you. For I lack nothing in comparison to those "super-apostles," even though I am nothing.

although we could have imposed our weight as apostles of Christ; instead we became little children among you. Like a nursing mother caring for her own children,

For we all stumble in many ways. If someone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect individual, able to control the entire body as well.

Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good conduct he should show his works done in the gentleness that wisdom brings.

but the inner person of the heart, the lasting beauty of a gentle and tranquil spirit, which is precious in God's sight.
