Treasury of Scripture Knowledge
He is in the way of life that keepeth instruction: but he that refuseth reproof erreth.
My son, forget not my law, but let thine heart keep my commandments:
He taught me and said unto me, Sustain thine heart with my words; keep my commandments, and live.
Whosoever loves chastening loves knowledge, but he that hates reproof is carnal.
Bow down thine ear and hear the words of the wise, and apply thine heart unto my wisdom.
Therefore, whosoever hears these words of mine and does them, I will liken him unto a prudent man, who built his house upon the rock;
But he said, Rather, blessed are those that hear the word of God and keep it.
Therefore, it is necessary that we with more diligence keep the things which we have heard, so that we do not fall.
2 Peter 1:5
Ye also, giving all diligence to the same, show forth virtue in your faith; and in virtue, knowledge;
for because ye have disregarded all my counsel and rejected my reproof:
and say, How have I hated chastening and my heart despised reproof
Chastening is grievous unto him that forsakes the way, but he that hates reproof shall die.
He that being often reproved hardens his neck shall suddenly be destroyed and that without remedy.
2 Chronicles 25:16
And as the prophet was speaking these things unto him, he said unto him, Art thou appointed as the king's counsel? Forbear; why should thou be smitten? Then the prophet forbare and said, I know that God has determined to destroy thee because thou hast done this and hast not hearkened unto my counsel.
See that you do not refuse him that speaks. For if those who refused him that spoke on earth did not escape, much less shall we escape, if we turn away from him that speaks from the heavens,
Suffer not thy mouth to cause thy flesh to sin; neither say thou before the angel, that it was ignorance. Why should thou cause God to be angry because of thy voice and destroy the work of thine hands?
