Treasury of Scripture Knowledge
The hope of the righteous is joy, but the expectation of the wicked will remain unfulfilled.
The wicked will be thrown down in his trouble, but the righteous have refuge even in the threat of death.
The enemy said, 'I will chase, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil; my desire will be satisfied on them. I will draw my sword, my hand will destroy them.'
Such is the destiny of all who forget God; the hope of the godless perishes,
But the eyes of the wicked fail, and escape eludes them; their one hope is to breathe their last."
Their life's breath departs, they return to the ground; on that day their plans die.
Will you still say, "I am a god," before the one who kills you -- though you are a man and not a god -- when you are in the power of those who wound you?
And I will say to myself, "You have plenty of goods stored up for many years; relax, eat, drink, celebrate!"'
