Proverbs 12:17

For out of the heart come evil designs, murder, adultery, sexual vice, stealing, false witness, and slander.

Now the high priests and the whole of the Sanhedrin tried to secure false evidence against Jesus, in order to have him put to death;

They also brought forward false witnesses to say, "This fellow is never done talking against this holy Place and the Law!

see that you have a clean conscience, so that, for all their slander of you, these libellers of your good Christian behaviour may be ashamed.
