The king's heart is in the hand of LORD as the watercourses. He turns it wherever he will.

Blessed be LORD, the God of our fathers, who has put such a thing as this in the king's heart, to beautify the house of LORD which is in Jerusalem,

and kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with joy. For LORD had made them joyful, and had turned the heart of the king of Assyria to them, to strengthen their hands in the work of the house of God, the God of Israel.

O LORD, I beseech thee, let now thine ear be attentive to the prayer of thy servant, and to the prayer of thy servants, who delight to fear thy name, and, I pray thee, prosper thy servant this day, and grant him mercy in the sight

Then the king said to me, For what do thou make request? So I prayed to the God of heaven.

Thou split fountain and flood. Thou dried up mighty rivers.

Above the voices of many waters, the mighty breakers of the sea, LORD on high is mighty.

He turned their heart to hate his people, to deal craftily with his servants.

He also made them to be pitied by all those who carried them captive.

The sea saw it, and fled. The Jordan was driven back.

What ails thee, O thou sea, that thou flee? Thou Jordan, that thou turn back?

The plans of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from LORD.

A man's heart devises his way, but LORD directs his steps.

A man's goings are of LORD, how then can man understand his way?

Behold, I will do a new thing. Now it shall spring forth. Shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

who says to the deep, Be dry, and I will dry up thy rivers,

And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing, and he does according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth. And none can stay his hand, or say to him, What are thou doing?

and delivered him out of all his afflictions, and gave him favor and wisdom before Pharaoh king of Egypt. And he appointed him governor over Egypt and his entire house.

And the third agent poured out his bowl into the rivers and into the springs of the waters, and they became blood.

And the sixth agent poured out his bowl upon the great river Euphrates, and the water of it was dried up, so that the way of the kings from the sun-rising might be prepared.
