The righteous considers the house of the wicked but overthrows the wicked to their ruin.

I have seen a wicked, violent man spreading himself like a luxuriant tree in its native soil.

When God destroyed the cities of the valley where Lot was living, he kept Abraham in mind and allowed Lot to escape to safety.

I have seen a stubborn fool take root and I quickly cursed his house.

He leans on his web, but it gives way! He clings to it, but it does not hold.

He is torn from the security of his tent and marched off to the king of terrors.

For you say: 'Where is the house of the prince? Where is the tent in which the wicked lived?'

Here is the fate God accords the wicked. This is the heritage a ruthless man receives from the Almighty:

God will destroy you forever. He will remove you from your dwelling place from out of the land of the living.

Let those who think they are wise pay attention to these things so they will understand the loving kindness of Jehovah.

The integrity of the upright will guide them. The perverseness of transgressors will destroy them.

Righteousness keeps the upright in the way. Wickedness subverts the sinner.

The house of the wicked will be overthrown. But the tabernacle of the upright will flourish.

The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous has hope in his death.

Let the wise understand these things. Let the discerning know them. For the ways of Jehovah are right. And the righteous will walk in them. But transgressors will stumble in them.

I overthrew your cities as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah. You were like a burning stick plucked out of the fire. Yet you have not returned to me, said Jehovah.

He who receives a dishonest profit for his house will have trouble. He may set his nest on high in order to be delivered from the hand of evil!

God was not pleased with most of them. And their bodies were scattered in the wilderness.

God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them down to captivity in pits of darkness reserved for judgment!

by which means the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished.
