When the boy Samuel was serving Jehovah under the direction of Eli, there were very few messages from Jehovah. Visions from him were rare.

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I will also reject you! You will not be a priest to me since you have forgotten the Law of your God. Therefore, I will forget your children.

Behold, the day is coming, said the Lord Jehovah, that I will send a famine in the land. Not a famine of bread, or a thirst for water, but for hearing the words of Jehovah.

When he saw the large crowds of people, he was moved with compassion for them. He knew they were distressed and scattered like sheep not having a shepherd.

Everyone who calls on the name of Jehovah will be saved. (Joel 2:32)

Perish

Jehovah humbled Judah because of King Ahaz of Israel. Ahaz had spread sin throughout Judah and was unfaithful to Jehovah.

But

He who obeys the commandment saves his life. But he who is careless of his ways will die.

They warn your servant. There is a great reward in following them.

Blessed are those who obey his written word. They seek him with all their heart.

He replied: More blessed are those who hear the word of God and obey it.

If you know these things, you are blessed if you do them.

He that has my commandments, and obeys them loves me. My Father will love the person who loves me. I will love him and disclose myself to him.

But he who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and so continues, being not a hearer who forgets but a doer who works, this man will be blessed in what he does.

Blessed are those who obey his commandments. They have the right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates of the city.
