The transgression

The wicked person's iniquities will capture him, and he will be held with the cords of his sin.

The righteousness of the innocent creates a level path, but the wicked fall by their wickedness.

An evil man's sinful speech ensnares him, but the righteous person escapes from trouble.

His strong steps are restricted, and his own advice trips him up.

He rains on the wicked burning coals and sulfur; a scorching wind is their destiny.

Then he will be a sanctuary, but for both houses of Israel he'll also be a stone with which someone strikes himself, a rock one stumbles over, a trap and a snare to those who live in Jerusalem.

so that they might escape from the Devil's snare, even though they've been held captive by him to do his will.

But

Light shines on the righteous; gladness on the morally upright.

There's exultation for deliverance in the tents of the righteous: "The right hand of the LORD is victorious!

I will clothe its priests with salvation and its godly ones will shout for joy.

Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace by which we have been established, and we boast because of our hope in God's glory.

Consider it pure joy, my brothers, when you are involved in various trials,

Though you have not seen him, you love him. And even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and rejoice with an indescribable and glorious joy,

We are writing these things so that our joy may be full.
