Psalm 109:24

My knees give way because I have been fasting. My body has become lean, without any fat.

Lift up the hands that hang down, and the feeble knees.

My bones cling to my skin. I have escaped only by the skin of my teeth (with almost nothing).

I am poured out like water. All my bones are out of joint. My heart has melted within me like wax (I am weak).

When I kept silent about my sins, my body wasted away and I groaned all day long.

But when they were sick, I wore sackcloth. I humbled myself with fasting. My prayer returned unanswered.

My wounds smell rotten. They fester because of my stupidity.

When I wept and I fasted, that was to my reproach.

My heart has been stricken like grass and has withered away. In fact I forget to eat my bread.
