For a command is a lamp, teaching is a light,
and corrective discipline is the way to life.

To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, there will be no dawn for them.

to give His people knowledge of salvation
through the forgiveness of their sins.

to open their eyes so they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that by faith in Me they may receive forgiveness of sins and a share among those who are sanctified.’

In their case, the god of this age has blinded the minds of the unbelievers so they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ,

who is the image of God.

Everything exposed by the light is made clear,

So we have the prophetic word strongly confirmed. You will do well to pay attention to it, as to a lamp shining in a dismal place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.

It giveth

The instruction of the Lord is perfect,
renewing one’s life;
the testimony of the Lord is trustworthy,
making the inexperienced wise.

for teaching shrewdness to the inexperienced,

knowledge and discretion to a young man—

“Whoever is inexperienced, enter here!”
To the one who lacks sense, she says,

for such people do not serve our Lord Christ but their own appetites.

They deceive the hearts of the unsuspecting with smooth talk and flattering words.

and you know that from childhood you have known the sacred Scriptures, which are able to give you wisdom for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
