A Portrait Of Sinners

1 The fool has said in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt. They have done abominable works. There is none who does good.

1 For the choir director. A Psalm of David.The fool has (A)said in his heart, “There is no God.”They are corrupt, they have committed abominable (a)deeds;There is (B)no one who does good.

1 {To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.} The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

1 For the choir director. Davidic.The fool says in his heart, “God does not exist.”(A)They are corrupt; they do vile deeds.There is no one who does good.

1 Fools say to themselves, "There is no God." They are corrupt and commit evil deeds; not one of them practices what is good.

2 The LORD looked down from heaven on the children of men, to see if there were any who did understand, who did seek after God.

2 The Lord has (C)looked down from heaven upon the sons of menTo see if there are any who (b)(D)understand,Who (E)seek after God.

2 The Lord looks down from heaven on the human race(B)to see if there is one who is wise,one who seeks God.

2 The LORD looks down from the heavens upon humanity to see if anyone shows discernment as he searches for God.

3 They have all gone aside. They have together become corrupt. There is none who does good, no, not one.

3 They have all (F)turned aside, together they have become corrupt;There is (G)no one who does good, not even one.

3 They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

4 Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge, who eat up my people as they eat bread, and do not call on the LORD?

4 Do all the workers of wickedness (H)not know,Who (I)eat up my people as they eat bread,And (J)do not call upon the Lord?

4 Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread, and call not upon the LORD.

4 Will evildoers never understand?They consume My people as they consume bread;(D)they do not call on the Lord.(E)

4 Will those who do evil ever learn? They devour my people like they devour bread, and never call on the LORD.

5 There they were in great fear, for God is in the generation of the righteous.

5 There they are in great dread,For God is with the (K)righteous generation.

5 There were they in great fear: for God is in the generation of the righteous.

5 Then(b) they will be filled with terror,for God is with those who are(c) righteous.(F)

5 There they are seized with terror, because God is with those who are righteous.

6 You would frustrate the plans of the lowly, but the LORD is his refuge.

6 You would put to shame the counsel of the afflicted,But the Lord is his (L)refuge.

6 Ye have shamed the counsel of the poor, because the LORD is his refuge.

6 You sinners frustrate the plans of the afflicted,(G)but the Lord is his refuge.(H)

6 You would frustrate the plans of the oppressed, but the LORD is their refuge.

7 Oh that the salvation of Israel would come out of Zion. When the LORD restores the fortunes of his people, then Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.

7 Oh, that (M)the salvation of Israel (c)would come out of Zion!When the Lord (d)(N)restores His captive people,Jacob will rejoice, Israel will be glad.

7 Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! when the LORD bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.

7 Oh, that Israel’s deliverance would come from Zion!When the Lord restores the fortunes of His people,(d)Jacob will rejoice; Israel will be glad.(e)(I)

7 May Israel's deliverance come from Zion! When the LORD restores the fortunes of his people, Jacob will rejoice, and Israel will be glad. A Davidic Psalm.
