Psalm 22

¹ For the choir director; upon ^(a)Aijeleth Hashshahar. A Psalm of David.^(A)My God, my God, why have You forsaken me?^(b)(B)Far from my deliverance are the words of my ^(c)(C)groaning.

¹ {To the chief Musician upon Aijeleth Shahar, A Psalm of David.} My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring?

¹ For the choir director: according to “The Deer of the Dawn.”^(a) A Davidic psalm.My God, my God, why have You forsaken me?^(A)Why are You so far from my deliverance^(B)and from my words of groaning?^(b)(C)

¹ My God! My God! Why have you abandoned me? Why are you so far from delivering me from my groaning words?

³ Yet ^(E)You are holy,O You who ^(e)are enthroned upon ^(F)the praises of Israel.

³ But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.

³ But You are holy,enthroned on the praises of Israel.^(E)

³ You are holy, enthroned on the praises of Israel.

³ But You are holy,O You who are enthroned in [the holy place where] the praises of Israel [are offered].

⁵ To You they cried out and were delivered;^(I)In You they trusted and were not ^(f)disappointed.

⁵ They cried unto thee, and were delivered: they trusted in thee, and were not confounded.

⁵ They cried to You and were set free;they trusted in You and were not disgraced.^(G)

⁵ They cried out to you and escaped; they trusted in you and were not put to shame.

⁵ They cried out to You and were delivered;They trusted in You and were not disappointed or ashamed.

⁷ All who see me ^(g)(M)sneer at me;They ^(h)separate with the lip, they ^(N)wag the head, saying,

⁷ All they that see me laugh me to scorn: they shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying,

⁷ Everyone who sees me mocks me;they sneer^(c) and shake their heads:^(J)

⁷ Everyone who sees me mocks me; they gape at me with open mouths and shake their heads at me.

⁷ All who see me laugh at me and mock me;They [insultingly] open their lips, they shake their head, saying,^(C)

⁹ Yet You are He who ^(P)brought me forth from the womb;You made me trust when upon my mother’s breasts.

⁹ But thou art he that took me out of the womb: thou didst make me hope when I was upon my mother's breasts.

⁹ You took me from the womb,making me secure while at my mother’s breast.^(L)

⁹ Yet, you are the one who took me from the womb, and kept me safe on my mother's breasts.

⁹ Yet You are He who pulled me out of the womb;You made me trust when on my mother’s breasts.

^{11 (R)}Be not far from me, for ^(k)trouble is near;For there is ^(S)none to help.

¹¹ Be not far from me; for trouble is near; for there is none to help.

¹¹ Do not be far from me, because distress is nearand there is no one to help.^(N)

¹¹ Do not be so distant from me, for trouble is at hand; indeed, there is no deliverer.

¹¹ Do not be far from me, for trouble is near;And there is no one to help.

¹³ They ^(V)open wide their mouth at me,As a ravening and a roaring ^(W)lion.

¹³ They gaped upon me with their mouths, as a ravening and a roaring lion.

¹³ They open their mouths against me—lions, mauling and roaring.^(P)

¹³ Their mouths are opened wide toward me, like roaring and attacking lions.

¹³ They open wide their mouths against me,Like a ravening and a roaring lion.

¹⁵ My ^(AA)strength is dried up like a potsherd,And ^(AB)my tongue cleaves to my jaws;And You ^(AC)lay me ^(m)in the dust of death.

¹⁵ My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death.

¹⁵ My strength is dried up like baked clay;^(T)my tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth.^(U)You put me into the dust of death.^(V)

¹⁵ My strength is dried up like broken pottery; my tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth, and you have brought me down to the dust of death.

¹⁵ My strength is dried up like a fragment of clay pottery;And my [dry] tongue clings to my jaws;And You have laid me in the dust of death.^(F)

¹⁷ I can count all my bones.^(AF)They look, they stare at me;

¹⁷ I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me.

¹⁷ I can count all my bones;people^(h) look and stare at me.^(Y)

¹⁹ But You, O Lord, ^(AH)be not far off;O You my help, ^(AI)hasten to my assistance.

¹⁹ But be not thou far from me, O LORD: O my strength, haste thee to help me.

¹⁹ But You, Lord, don’t be far away.^(AA)My strength, come quickly to help me.^(AB)

¹⁹ But as for you, LORD, do not be far away from me; My Strength, come quickly to help me.

¹⁹ But You, O Lord, do not be far from me;O You my help, come quickly to my assistance.

²¹ Save me from the ^(AL)lion’s mouth;From the horns of the ^(AM)wild oxen You ^(AN)answer me.

²¹ Save me from the lion's mouth: for thou hast heard me from the horns of the unicorns.

²¹ Save me from the mouth of the lion!^(AD)You have rescued^(j) mefrom the horns of the wild oxen.

²¹ Deliver me from the mouth of the lion, from the horns of the wild oxen. You have answered me.

²¹ Save me from the lion’s mouth;From the horns of the wild oxen You answer me.

^{23 (AP)}You who fear the Lord, praise Him;All you ^(r)descendants of Jacob, ^(AQ)glorify Him,And ^(AR)stand in awe of Him, all you ^(s)descendants of Israel.

²³ Ye that fear the LORD, praise him; all ye the seed of Jacob, glorify him; and fear him, all ye the seed of Israel.

²³ You who fear Yahweh, praise Him!^(AF)All you descendants of Jacob, honor Him!All you descendants of Israel, revere Him!^(AG)

²³ "All who fear the LORD, praise him! All the seed of Jacob, glorify him! All the seed of Israel, fear him!

²³ You who fear the Lord [with awe-inspired reverence], praise Him!All you descendants of Jacob, honor Him.Fear Him [with submissive wonder], all you descendants of Israel.

²⁵ From You comes ^(AV)my praise in the great assembly;I shall ^(AW)pay my vows before those who fear Him.

²⁵ My praise shall be of thee in the great congregation: I will pay my vows before them that fear him.

²⁵ I will give praise^(k) in the great congregationbecause of You;^(AK)I will fulfill my vowsbefore those who fear You.^(l)(AL)

²⁵ My praise in the great congregation is because of you; I will pay my vows before those who fear you.

²⁵ My praise will be of You in the great assembly.I will pay my vows [made in the time of trouble] before those who [reverently] fear Him.

²⁷ All the ^(BA)ends of the earth will remember and turn to the Lord,And all the ^(BB)families of the nations will worship before ^(u)You.

²⁷ All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the LORD: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee.

²⁷ All the ends of the earth will rememberand turn to the Lord.All the families of the nationswill bow down before You,^(AO)

²⁷ All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to the LORD; all the families of the nations will bow in submission to the LORD.

²⁷ All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to the Lord,And all the families of the nations will bow down and worship before You,

²⁹ All the ^(v)(BE)prosperous of the earth will eat and worship,All those who ^(BF)go down to the dust will bow before Him,Even he who ^(w)(BG)cannot keep his soul alive.

²⁹ All they that be fat upon earth shall eat and worship: all they that go down to the dust shall bow before him: and none can keep alive his own soul.

²⁹ All who prosper on earth will eat and bow down;all those who go down to the dustwill kneel before Him—even the one who cannot preserve his life.^(AQ)

²⁹ All the prosperous people will eat and bow down in submission. All those who are about to go down to the grave will bow down in submission, along with the one who can no longer keep himself alive.

²⁹ All the prosperous of the earth will eat and worship;All those who go down to the dust (the dead) will bow before Him,Even he who cannot keep his soul alive.

³¹ They will come and ^(BJ)will declare His righteousnessTo a people ^(BK)who will be born, that He has performed it.

³¹ They shall come, and shall declare his righteousness unto a people that shall be born, that he hath done this.

³¹ They will come and tell a people yet to be bornabout His righteousness—what He has done.^(AS)

³¹ They will come and declare his righteousness to a people yet to be born; indeed, he has accomplished it! A Davidic Psalm.
