I cried aloud to the LORD, and he answered me from his holy hill. Selah

Give attention to the sound of my cry, my King and my God, for to you do I pray.

O my God, I cry by day, but you do not answer, and by night, but I find no rest.

I cry aloud to God, aloud to God, and he will hear me.

With my voice I cry out to the LORD; with my voice I plead for mercy to the LORD.

You have seen, O LORD; be not silent! O Lord, be not far from me!

O God, do not keep silence; do not hold your peace or be still, O God!

"What profit is there in my death, if I go down to the pit? Will the dust praise you? Will it tell of your faithfulness?

Let not the flood sweep over me, or the deep swallow me up, or the pit close its mouth over me.

I am counted among those who go down to the pit; I am a man who has no strength,

Answer me quickly, O LORD! My spirit fails! Hide not your face from me, lest I be like those who go down to the pit.

He has redeemed my soul from going down into the pit, and my life shall look upon the light.'
