The watery deep covered it like a garment; the waters reached above the mountains.
God said, "Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place and let dry ground appear." It was so.
He marks out the horizon on the surface of the waters as a boundary between light and darkness.
"Who shut up the sea with doors when it burst forth, coming out of the womb,
when he gave the sea his decree that the waters should not pass over his command, when he marked out the foundations of the earth,
"You should fear me!" says the Lord. "You should tremble in awe before me! I made the sand to be a boundary for the sea, a permanent barrier that it can never cross. Its waves may roll, but they can never prevail. They may roar, but they can never cross beyond that boundary."
By the blast of your nostrils the waters were piled up, the flowing water stood upright like a heap, and the deep waters were solidified in the heart of the sea.
When the feet of the priests carrying the ark of the Lord, the Ruler of the whole earth, touch the water of the Jordan, the water coming downstream toward you will stop flowing and pile up."
But you trample on the sea with your horses, on the surging, raging waters.
