When

{The Instruction of David, a prayer when he was in the cave} I cry unto the LORD with my voice; yea, even unto the LORD do I make my supplication.

Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? Or, who shall rise up in his holy place?

Be

{To the chanter, upon the domme stock dove, which flyeth far off: Michtam of David, when the Philistines took him in Gath} Be merciful unto me, O God, for men will tread me down: they are daily fighting and troubling me.

But, LORD, I make my prayer unto thee in an acceptable time. Hear me, O God, in the multitude of thy mercy, even in the truth of thy salvation.

O let thy merciful kindness be my comfort, according to the promise that thou hast made unto thy servant.

Soul

And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee; for thou, LORD, hast never failed them that seek thee.

But my trust is in thy mercy, and my heart is joyful in thy salvation.

{A song of the stairs} They that put their trust in the LORD are even as the mount Zion, which may not be removed, but standeth fast forever.

Therefore, whoso feareth the LORD among you, let him hear the voice of his servant. Who so walketh in darkness, and no light shineth upon him, let him trust in the LORD and hold him by his God.

Shadow

Show thy marvelous loving-kindness, thou that art the Saviour of them which put their trust in thee, from such as resist thy righthand.

How excellent is thy mercy, O God! And the children of men shall put their trust under the shadow of thy wings.

I will dwell in thy tabernacle forever and my trust shall be under the covering of thy wings. Selah.

For thou hast been my helper, and under the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.

Whoso dwelleth under the defense of the most high, shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

The LORD recompense thee thy doing, and a full reward be given thee of the LORD God of Israel unto whom thou art come, to trust under his wings."

O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which killest prophets, and stonest them that are sent to thee: how often would I have gathered thy children together, as the hen gathereth her nest under her wings, but ye would not.

Until

But soon after shall my wrath and mine indignation be fulfilled against their blasphemies.

So go now my people into thy chamber, and shut the door to thee, and suffer now the twinkling of an eye, till the wrath be overpast.

Yea, and except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: But for the chosens' sake, those days shall be shortened.

Verily, verily I say unto you, Ye shall weep and lament, and the world shall rejoice. Ye shall sorrow: but your sorrow shall be turned to joy.

Take, my brethren, the prophets: for an example of suffering adversity, and of long patience, which spake in the name of the Lord.

And I said unto him, "Lord, thou knowest." And he said unto me, "These are they which came out of great tribulation and made their garments large, and made them white in the blood of the lamb:

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes. And there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, neither crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the old things are gone.
