Psalm 59:12

Treasury of Scripture Knowledge

For the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips let them even be taken in their pride: and for cursing and lying which they speak.

But God will shoot at them; suddenly they will be wounded by an arrow.

Pay back our neighbors in full! May they be insulted the same way they insulted you, O Lord!

How will he severely punish you, you deceptive talker?

As for the heads of those who surround me -- may the harm done by their lips overwhelm them!

The evil person is ensnared by the transgression of his speech, but the righteous person escapes out of trouble.

The mouth of a fool is his ruin, and his lips are a snare for his life.

I tell you that on the day of judgment, people will give an account for every worthless word they speak.

In reply all the people said, "Let his blood be on us and on our children!"

The wicked arrogantly chase the oppressed; the oppressed are trapped by the schemes the wicked have dreamed up.

if you have been ensnared by the words you have uttered, and have been caught by the words you have spoken,

The righteousness of the upright will deliver them, but the faithless will be captured by their own desires.

He loved to curse others, so those curses have come upon him. He had no desire to bless anyone, so he has experienced no blessings.

There is only cursing, lying, murder, stealing, and adultery. They resort to violence and bloodshed.

But they persisted in saying, "He incites the people by teaching throughout all Judea. It started in Galilee and ended up here!"

He loved to curse others, so those curses have come upon him. He had no desire to bless anyone, so he has experienced no blessings.

"Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness."
