To the Chief Musician. On the Lily of Testimony. A secret treasure of David, to teach; when he struggled with Aram-naharaim and with Aram of Zobah, when Joab returned and struck twelve thousand of Edom in the Valley of Salt. O God, You have cast us off, You have scattered us, You were angry; take us back.

Now You have cast us off, and have shamed us, and You do not go forth with our armies.

Turn us again, O God, and cause Your face to shine, and we shall be saved!

And David came to Baal-perazim, and David struck them there, and said, Jehovah has broken forth on my enemies before me, like the breaking forth of waters. Therefore he called the name of that place The Breaking of Baal.

David also struck Hadadezer, the son of Rehob, king of Zobah, as he went to recover his border at the river Euphrates.

And Hadarezer sent and brought out the Syrians who were beyond the river. And they came to Helam. And Shobach the commander of the army of Hadarezer went before them.

And David struck Hadarezer king of Zobah to Hamath, as he went to establish his dominion by the river Euphrates.

Have not You, O God, cast us off? And will You, O God, not go out with our armies?

And the Philistines fought, and Israel was beaten, and each one of them fled into his tent. And there was a very great slaughter, for there fell thirty thousand footmen of Israel.

And the messenger answered and said, Israel has fled before the Philistines, and there has been a great slaughter among the people also. And also your two sons, Hophni and Phinehas, are dead, and the ark of God is taken.

And the men of Israel saw that they were in a tight place (for the people were distressed). And the people hid themselves in caves, and in thickets, and in rocks, and in high places, and in pits.

And Samuel said, What have you done? And Saul said, Because I saw that the people were scattered from me, and you did not come in the days appointed, and the Philistines gathered themselves at Michmash,

And there was no smith found throughout all the land of Israel. For the Philistines said, Lest the Hebrews make swords or spears.

And the Philistines fought against Israel. And the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and fell down wounded in Mount Gilboa.

of Syria, and of Moab, and of the sons of Ammon, and of the Philistines, and of Amalek, and of the spoil of Hadadezer, son of Rehob, king of Zobah.

And Abishai the son of Zeruiah killed eighteen thousand of the men of Edom in the Valley of Salt.

And you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father and serve Him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind. For Jehovah searches all hearts and understands all the imaginations of the thoughts. If you seek Him, He will be found by you. But if you forsake Him, He will cast you off forever.

And Amaziah made himself strong, and led forth his people, and went to the Valley of Salt, and struck ten thousand of the sons of Seir.

To the Chief Musician. Do not destroy. A secret treasure of David, when Saul sent, and they watched the house to kill him. Deliver me from my enemies, O my God; defend me from those who rise up against me.

Do not kill them, lest my people forget; scatter them by Your power and bring them down, O Jehovah our shield.

An Instruction of Asaph. O God, have You cast us off forever? Will Your anger smoke against the sheep of Your pasture?

How long, O Jehovah? Will You be angry forever? Shall Your jealousy burn like fire?

Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of Your name; and deliver us, and atone for our sins, for Your name's sake.

Turn us, O God of our salvation, and cause Your anger toward us to cease.

I have cut a covenant with My chosen; I have sworn to David My servant,

God is greatly to be feared in the congregation of the saints, and to be adored by all around Him.

Then You spoke in a vision to Your holy one, and You said, I have laid help on a mighty one; I have lifted up a chosen one out of the people.

But You have cast off and rejected us; You have been angry with Your anointed.

Return, O Jehovah! How long? And give pity to Your servants.

O God, have You not cast us off? And, O God, will You not go out with our armies?

For the Lord will not cast off forever;

And I will strengthen the house of Judah, and I will save the house of Joseph, and I will return to save them; for I have pity on them. And they shall be as though I had not cast them off; for I am Jehovah their God, and I will answer them.

I say then, Did not God put away His people? Let it not be said! For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.
