When he strove

David smote also Hadadezer, the son of Rehob king of Zobah, as he went to make the end of his coasts at the river Euphrates.
And Hadadezer sent and brought out the Syrians that were beyond the river. And the host of them came; and Sobah, the captain of the host of Hadadezer before them.
And David beat Hadadezer king of Zobah unto Hamath, as he went to bring his dominion unto the river Euphrates.
And when the Syrians saw that they were put to the worse of Israel, they sent messengers and fetched out the Syrians that are beyond the river with Shophach the Captain of the host of Hadadezer before them.

Valley

And he slew of the Edomites in the salt valley, ten thousand, and took the town Sela with strength of battle, and called the name of it Joktheel ever after.
And Amaziah took heart and carried out his host and went to Saltdale, where he slew of the children of Seir ten thousand.

O god

Shall not thou do it, O God, thou that hast cast us out? Wilt not thou, O God, go out with our hosts?
But now thou art far off, and puttest us to confusion, and goest not forth with our armies.
{An Instruction of Asaph} O God, wherefore doest thou cast us so clean away? Why is thy wrath so hot against the sheep of thy pasture?
But thou hast abhorred and forsaken thine annointed, and art displeased at him.
Shalt not thou do it, O God which hast cast us out? And wilt not thou, O God, go forth with our hosts?

O turn

Help us, O God our saviour, for the glory of thy name; O deliver us, and forgive us our sins for thy name's sake.
"I have made a covenant with my chosen, I have sworn unto David my servant:
Turn us then, O God our Saviour, and let thine anger cease from us.
Turn thee again, O LORD, at the last, and be gracious unto thy servants.
{Khaf} For the LORD will not forsake forever.
"I will comfort the house of Judah, and preserve the house of Joseph. I will turn them also, for I pity them: and they shall be like as they were, when I had not cast them off. For I the LORD am their God, and will hear them.
