Their device is only how to put him out, whom God will exalt; their delight is in lies. They give good words with their mouth, but curse with their heart. Selah.

O pluck me not away, neither destroy me with the ungodly and wicked doers, which speak friendly to their neighbours, but imagine mischief in their hearts.

Their mouths are softer than butter, and yet have they battle in their mind: their words are smoother than oil, and yet be they very swords.

W hy did the heathen rage and the people imagine vain things?

For there is no faithfulness in their mouths; they dissemble in their hearts. Their throat is an open sepulchre; they flatter with their tongue.

But lo, thou hast a pleasure in the truth, and hast showed me secret wisdom.

Thou lovest ungraciousness more than good, to talk of lies more than righteousness. Selah.

As for lies, I hate and abhor them; but thy law do I love.

A proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood,

A righteous man abhoreth lies; but the ungodly shameth both others and himself.

They make the king and the princes, to have pleasure in their wickedness and lies.

When Herod the king had heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.

Then Herod, perceiving that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, as many as were two years old and under according to the time which he had diligently searched out of the wise men.

Then went the Pharisees, and took counsel, how they might tangle him in his words.

The same day the Sadducees came to him, which say that there is no resurrection, and they asked him,

When the Pharisees had heard, how that he had put the Sadducees to silence, they drew together,

Then assembled together the chief priests and the scribes and the elders of the people into the palace of the high priest, called Caiaphas:

when the morning was come, all the chief priests and the elders of the people held a counsel against Jesus, to put him to death,

And the Lord said to him, "Now do ye, O Pharisees, make clean the outside of the cup, and of the platter: but your inward parts are full of ravening and wickedness.

And they watched him, and sent forth spies, which should feign themselves perfect, to take him in his words, and to deliver him unto the power, and authority of the deputy.

Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father, ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning; And abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, then speaketh he of his own. For he is a liar, and the father thereof.

Then gathered the high priests and the Pharisees a council and said, "What do we? This man doeth many miracles.

saying, "What shall we do to these men? For a manifest sign is done by them, and is openly known to all them that dwell in Jerusalem, and we cannot deny it:

which by the mouth of thy servant David hast said, 'Why did the heathen rage and the people imagine vain things?

Which men, though they knew the righteousness of God, how that they which such things commit are worthy of death: yet not only do the same, but also have pleasure in them that do them.

I delight in the law of God, as concerning the inner man.

For without shall be dogs and enchanters, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth or maketh lies.
